Big mama safe' house ​is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eradicating gun violence and supporting survivors. Founded on the principles of safety, advocacy, and empowerment, our mission is to create communities where every individual can live free from the fear of gun violence. We provide safe housing for affected families, trauma counseling, and educational programs to foster healing and resilience. Through grassroots advocacy, community engagement, and policy reform, we address the root causes of gun violence and work to prevent future tragedies.

The board of Director
The Board of Directors for Big Mama's Safe House guides efforts to combat gun violence, support survivors, and foster safer, thriving communities.
​Ronald M. Stewart, MD, serves as Chair of the Department of Surgery at UT Health San Antonio and is a trauma surgeon at University Health. He chaired the ACS Committee on Trauma (2014–2018) and was the medical director of Trauma Programs (2018–2022). During his tenure, he fostered inclusive dialogue on reducing firearm injury, death, and disability. His efforts developed a common narrative addressing violence's root causes and firearm safety, forming a foundation for pragmatic strategies to mitigate firearm-related harm effectively.
Cori Ferraro currently serves as a state leader for the Texas chapter of Moms Demand Action
for Gun Sense in America. In this role, she advocates for community-based solutions to gun
violence. Ms. Ferraro previously worked as an attorney for the United States Department of
Justice in Washington DC. She holds a J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, a B.A. in
Political Science from the University of California, Irvine, and a grant-writing certification from
the University of Incarnate Word, Texas
​Sandra Ogogor is a graduate student at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she is completing her Master's in English. She has been a volunteer with Mom's Demand Action for seven years, focusing on the link between gun violence and domestic violence in our community. Sandra is currently the office manager for the San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum.
